How to stop a WebRTC leak
- Use your VPN's own app or browser extension. Most paid VPNs block WebRTC leaks when their extension is on.
- Firefox: open
about:configand setmedia.peerconnection.enabledtofalse. - Brave: Settings → Privacy and security → WebRTC IP handling policy → Disable non-proxied UDP.
- Chrome and Edge: no built-in switch. Use an extension such as uBlock Origin (Settings → Privacy → Prevent WebRTC from leaking local IP addresses).
Turning WebRTC off can break video calls in the browser, such as Google Meet or Discord.
